I have currently been helping with Multimedia Impact Briefings at the NWS. I have really enjoyed writing and producing the graphics for a few of these briefings. It's my way of being able to practice my broadcasing and throw a little broadcast touch in the system. They update the briefings 2 to 3 times daily, so if you go to the Birmingham NWS page and click on briefings at the top you might be able to sneak a peek at mine. I have also experienced two mornings of working the midnight shift (from 12-8). The first morning I started struggling around 4 AM but was determined to stick it out. When I finally made it home to rest my head, it turned out to be a little harder to do than expected. I awoke in utter confusion around 3 PM and couldn't decide between breakfast, lunch, or supper. I just combined the three and setteled on crab salad. My second morning I was a litttle more prepared for what I was getting myself into. I have realized that it does take more than a few extra hours of sleep to get use to the transition.
