Brrr! Much cooler temperatures entered the area this week in associated with a cut off low. A cut off low is a low pressure system that gets cut off from the jet stream and remains stationary over an area. This cut off low had a cold core which provided us with below normal temperatures for the month of October. The moisture from the gulf was feeding it and therefore it gave us our much needed rainfall. Starkville has had approximately 1” of rain just since yesterday, yet the rain will come to a halt by tomorrow night. For tomorrow clouds will be moving out of the area and the high will move back up to the lower 60’s. By Friday night the sky will be clearing with a low at 42°. As football comes our way on Saturday temperatures will climb back up to the lower 70’s. For Saturday night the sky will be beautifully clear for those spooky Halloween activities, but you might want to tag a coat along with your costume since the low will be at 47°. A nice bright day is expected for Sunday with a high at 65° and a low at 45°. Have a great Halloween weekend and inspect your candy before eating it!
