Great Plains Storm Chase 08

Day 6:

That morning after briefing we decided to stay in Gainesville, TX another night because the models were suggesting the best storm potential would be South Central Oklahoma which was only 2 hrs away. We split up for lunch at 12:00 and I decided to tryout a local BBQ joint. It was definitely Texas style and that was even more evident when I read a sign on the door that said "No smoking on Sundays from 11:00-2:00". We traveled 40 miles south of Gainesville, TX to go to Ray Roberts Lake. This was a great opportunity to get some fresh air. The lake was beautiful and it had a playground for everybody to run around on. Too bad we didn't have paintball guns, that would have been awesome. At 6:00 a few of us walked over to a sports bar called Hubcaps. This was a very unique place with crazy Saturday nights and their Tuesdays were called "Black Out Tuesday". I also read on their calendar that Larry and Patty's wedding reception will be on the 31st. Only in Texas :). Tori S. swam up like Jaws and beat everybody in pool. We finished the night off by spending quality time together and watching youtube videos.
